Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. is a power generating and distributing
organization of Government of Punjab and intends to hire Linemen for purely on contract basis
from the candidates who have completed 2 years Apprenticeship in the trade of Lineman in
PSPCL / PSTCL (erstwhile PSEB) and have passed National Apprenticeship Certificate for the
same.
1. Name of the post : Lineman on contract basis
2. No. of posts : 5000 (Tentative) as per details given below
3. Emoluments : Rs.10,000/- consolidated per month
i) Back-log of SC : 739*
ii) Balance : 4261 with distribution as under:
Lineman- 5000 posts –Rs. 10000 consolidale par montah
*Number indicated in Backlog is tentative, final backlog shall be worked out and number of other
categories shall change accordingly.
4. QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidates should meet with the following qualifications:
i) Matriculation or equivalent qualification and National Apprenticeship Certificate in
Lineman Trade.
ii) The candidates who possess higher education as Diploma in Electrical Engineering/
Degree pass will be considered only if they have minimum qualifications as
National Apprenticeship Certificate in Lineman Trade.
iii) The candidates who have passed successfully National Apprenticeship Training
Certificate test in the trade of Lineman.
iv) The candidates must have done 2 years Apprenticeship in PSPCL/ PSTCL or
erstwhile PSEB.
5. KNOWLEDGE OF PUNJABI:
The candidates must have passed Punjabi atleast upto Matric Standard by last date 2
of receipt of application. In case of November, 1984 riots affected Sikh migrant candidates,
relaxation is allowed to pass examination within two years from the date of joining this post.
6. AGE LIMIT:
18 to 37 years as on 1.1.2011. Upper age limit is relaxable as admissible under
rules/ instructions of PSPCL/PSTCL/ Punjab Govt.
7. RELAXATION IN AGE LIMIT:
Upper age limit is relaxable as admissible under rules/ instructions of PSPCL/
a SC/ST and Backward class: 5 years over & above the normal recruitment age.
b. Ex-Serviceman: To the extent of service rendered in Armed Forces of
Union of India subject to usual terms and conditions.
c. Physically Handicapped: 10 years over and above the normal recruitment age.
d In case of the following, the upper age limit shall be 40 years subject to the condition that
the candidate is meeting other eligibility criteria for the post.
i. Widows;
ii. Women who are legally Separated from their husbands or have been divorced;
iii. Women whose husbands have been ordered by Civil or Criminal courts to pay
maintenance to them;
iv. Women who have because of their desertion, been living separately from their
husbands for more than two years.
v. Women whose husbands have re-married; and
vi. Wives of the serving military personnel and wives of those who are disabled while
in Military service.
E For serving employees of PSPCL/PSTCL: To the extent of service rendered in
PSPCL/PSTCL or erstwhile PSEB.
8. RESERVATION OF POSTS:
The relaxation of reserved categories is applicable for Punjab Domicile only. The
category wise actual number of posts will be worked out on the basis of running roster point as per
reservation policy of Punjab Government and adopted by PSPCL from time to time. Category
once filled in the online application form will not be changed and no benefit of other
category will be admissible later on. The reserve category candidate will be required to
submit requisite certificate in the prescribed form at the time of checking of original
documents, if he appears in the merit list.
9. SELECTION PROCESS:
Selection will be made purely on merit basis. The merit will be made as per marks
obtained in National Apprenticeship Certificate in Lineman trade. The percentage marks obtained
shall be rounded off to the nearest 2

decimal digit for preparing the merit. No weightage shall be
given for higher qualifications. 3
10. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
i The PSPCL reserves the right to modify / alter the above mode of hiring as well as
decrease / increases the number of posts advertised without any notice. PSPCL
reserves the right to call the final selected candidates once put up on the merit list, as
per the number of actual vacancies available.
ii The candidate must possess the prescribed qualifications as per para-4 and 5
including 2 years Apprenticeship in PSPCL and reservation certificate upto the last
date of online registration. The candidates whose results have been officially and
publically declared till the last date of online registration shall only be eligible to
apply. The candidates possessing the qualifications higher than the prescribed one
will be considered only if they possess the minimum prescribed qualifications.
iii Candidates serving in any department including PSPCL/PSTCL will be required to
submit " No Objection Certificate" through their Heads of Departments if selected,
before offer of appointment for the above post is issued to the candidate, failing
which his/her candidature is liable to be rejected.
iv No service benefit of any nature of previous service rendered in any department
(other than PSPCL) will be admissible. The selected candidates will be governed by
PSPCL Rules & Regulations.
v Candidates are advised to keep the E-mail ID to be entered compulsorily in the online
application form and which should remain active for atleast 6 months, and no change
in the E-mail ID will be allowed once entered.
vi In case of any ambiguity/ dispute or interpretation, decision of the PSPCL shall be
final and binding on the candidate. Legal jurisdiction shall be subject to Local Courts
at Patiala
vii No manual/ paper application will be entertained.
viii The qualification, passing of Punjabi and certificates in support of reservation of
posts must have been obtained on or before the last date of registration of
applications. Any certificate issued after this date shall not be entertained. Candidate
shall submit the attested copy of these certificates/ documents at the time of checking
of original document.
ix The selected candidates can be placed/posted in PSPCL or PSTCL or any other
organization such as BBMB etc against the vacant posts of Lineman or SSA or any
other post deemed fit by management.
x The period of contract shall be of 2 years. The selected candidates shall undergo
training of 4 months in various organizations/installations of PSPCL/PSTCL and in
technical training Institute of PSPCL at Patiala
completion of training of 4 months, they shall be allowed to continue for the balance
contract period. In case the work & conduct of the selected candidates during training
period is not satisfactory, their services shall be terminated immediately.
xi Lump sum emoluments of Rs.10,000/- per month shall be paid as cost to the
company. No other pay/allowances shall be paid. The deductions as per relevant
rules and regulations of Govt. shall be made form the same. 4
11. HOW TO APPLY:
Eligible candidate has to apply through online registration system. To apply/register
visit www.pspcl.in (Website) with their E-mail ID and photo for scanning. The candidate shall
complete the registration on line as per the instructions given there in the web site. After completion
candidate shall take out the print of the application along with the bank Challan form (showing the
candidate's name and application number generated through computer) and deposit the fee in any of
the branch of SBOP. Fee of Rs.206/- (non refundable including Rs.6/- as bank charges) as
registration and processing fee for General / Backward Class & other category candidates and Rs.
56/- (non refundable including Rs.6/- as bank charges) as registration and processing fee for SC/ST
candidates. No other mode of payment would be accepted. SBOP branch shall give two copies of the
challan after accepting the fee. The candidate after signing the copy of application send the same
